Coronado by La Flor Dominicana

I wanted to take a picture of the Coronado but after I smoked this guy, I needed to lay down. I read the review over at Keepers of the Flame and the review by The Stogie Guys and I knew I should’ve heeded their warnings about this being a very strong cigar. After smoking the Coronado by La Flor Dominicana I barely had enough wits about me to edit the video. I’m just happy I finished the Coronado and didn’t pussy out. The Coronado by La Flor Dominicana lives up to the 93 rating by CA and the 5 out of 5 rating The Stogie Guys gave it. Great reviews by both Keepers of the Flame and The Stogie Guys that really deserves your time to read.

Video runs around 15 minutes and thank you very much to the anonymous Stogie Review fan who so generously sent me a very nice v-cutter. That has to be the best gift anyone has sent me. Also, let me know what you think of the 16:9 video format.

Stay tuned for Episode 10 of Your Question, My Answers this weekend but reserve around 90 minutes to watch cause its a long cut version this week.

  1. Can I say how great it is to have Jerry back? Walt did a great job while you were gone but this site just isn’t the same without Jerry!

Solid review! I’ve seen these at my B&M but was waiting for one of you guys to review it and I will be picking up a pair of these to try.

  2. what’s up guys! had one of these on sunday. didn’t read any reviews b4 i had it. the cigar built very well as it progressed and had a nice peppery/spicey finish. i had about 4 beers and a steak b4 i smoked it, so i didnt get that green face at the end. smoke time was about 2 hours. my only complaint is that ugly-ass band! WOW, it looks like an airbrushed Journey album cover. again keep up the good work! the 16:9 is awesome by the way.

  3. Coronado is a very strong cigar, take your time on it and have something else besides water there. Maybe some sweet tea, or sugar water.

  4. I’ve enjoyed your video reviews, but I wonder if you have considered a different way of lighting your smokes. A friend talked me out of puffing on them as I light them up years ago and it seems to have been a good move. I use a torch and gradually light the foot without drawing on it at all. I avoid getting a flame going on the cigar foot by backing down the torch if I have to. The benefit is that you don’t overwhelm yourself with lots of smoke at the start, it reduces the heat in the cigar itself, and keeps your palate virgin so that it can really discover the taste and aroma the cigar has to offer. To me puffing on it while lighting it is like snorting a good Cabernet Sauvignon before tasting it. You’re so blown away by the snort that you cannot appreciate the finer, more subtle qualities. Try the no-puff light. You might like it and it can’t hurt anything, eh?

  5. Nice Review Jerry, I might even go with Ace’s recommendation as I’m trying the Coronado tomorrow I think.
