Quesada Oktoberfest (Guest Review)

Quesada - Oktoberfest - Guest Review -1

Tom and Ed Return for another Guest Review

As always, Ed and I have returned to Stogie Review for our guest spot. How long have we been doing this? I’ll have to look into it. Anyway… In this episode we are covering the Quesada Oktoberfest. This is a yearly release that is in celebration of one of the most famous festivals in the world. It is said that this cigar is intended to be paired with your favorite Oktoberfest beer. Quite a few people have told me that this pairing makes the flavors “Pop.” Since I am not a drinker, I found that it pairs well with a variety of beverages, even water.

This cigar is simple in terms of flavor, but something sets it apart from the pack. The flavor delivery, body and strength are in perfect balance. It is these strengths that put this cigar in my top three of 2011. The biggest downfall of the Oktoberfest is its limited availability. There are only 500 boxes made in each size (The Bavarian 5.5 x 52 and The Uber 6 x 65).

This review runs 24 minutes. So take few moments and see what we thought of the Quesada Oktoberfest.

  1. I had the pleasure of smoking this cigar with Tom one evening. He was kind enough to share from his own collection. I had previously tried one of the Bavarians. They were both very enjoyable although I found that the complexity in smaller Bavarians to be much more pronounced. Either way, they are excellent. Thanks for the review. Always good to see a review from Ed and Tom.

  2. I’ve had a few of these and surprisingly they are still available at my local shop. Definately a simple cigar, but always enjoyable

  3. Had 2 of these so far from the shop and I have to say, they just didn’t do it for me. I enjoy some of Quesada’s other blends though.

  4. Great review, guys. I can only hope I’ll be able to find one of the smaller ones locally. That Uber is way too uber for me.

  5. JohnG – Always a pleasure. Plus the Dream Theater concert was awesome! And I agree with your comments about the Bavarien size.

Mark – Yup they are still out there and going fast. I had one last night as well, very nice.

Sin – Did you have both sizes? I forgot to mention I think the smaller size has a bit more intense flavors than the Uber. Either way, if the Oktoberfest doesn’t do it for you it’s all good. It’s all subjective anyway, just our opinions.

Jjo – Glad you enjoyed the review. Like I said above, the smaller size seems to have more focused flavor. We definitely should have mentioned it in the review. The uber requires more commitment in terms of time as well, which I have no problem with.

  6. It’s all about having fun and sharing our opinion. SR simply inspired us to throw in our .02! Plus it’s good times and an excuse to chill with a nice cigar.

  7. Thats true. Yea I tried both sizes and they just didn’t agree with my tastebuds. I forgot to thank you and Ed for the review. Always good to see you guys review here; I enjoy them a lot.

  8. Sin – Ah, I figured it was worth mentioning since I forgot to do it in the review. Nothing wrong with your opinion of course! Also – No need to thank us since we are just having fun and enjoying cigars like everyone else. I will admit that comment love is always nice though. We appreciate it. That goes for everyone (you too Jerry!).

  9. I’ve been by Eds shop a bunch of times, always cool to see the man on the Internet. Great shop. I’ve only been by maybe five times since he moved across the plaza to the bigger store unfortunately. I’m in Clearwater beach so it’s a small drive but I do try to catch the events. If I see you Tom I’ll introduce myself, to put a face on this Mark P Internet persona!

  10. Mark P – Ed is the man I don’t think anyone can argue that point 😉 . Hope to catch you up there some Friday afternoon!

Smoke770 – Always a pleasure, glad you enjoyed it.

Steve – Ah cool thanks, it made a huge difference. I can see how the V cut would product a nice draw as well, which is what Ed prefers.

  11. Great review! the shop I go to still has some of these left and every time I go in there I eyeball them. next time I go I will definitely pick one up
