Last week, the night before I left for an overseas business trip, I sat down with Pete Johnson at a Tatuaje Cigars event hosted by Holt’s Cigar Company in Northeast Philadelphia. We talked about a lot of things going on in the Tatuaje universe, including the upcoming Cojonu 2012s, future installments of the Monster series, Pete’s plans for the Saints & Sinners club, and the possibility of expanding the Tatuaje brand to include adult beverages. I had a great time hanging out with Pete, @TedBonVivant, and the entire crew at Holt’s. I especially want to thank Anthony Mazzola, General Manager at Holt’s, for hosting a terrific event and allowing me to steal Pete away for a few minutes to record this interview.

As mentioned earlier, I had hoped to be able to upload this video for my weekly post on Tuesday, but abysmal upload speeds at the hotel in Scotland foiled those plans. The trip was enjoyable, but it’s good to be home & getting back into the swing of things.

Agree – awesome interview, Charlie! That would be cool if Pete got into wine but I doubt I would follow suit – wine just gives me a splitting headache. Rum however, I can get behind.=). I gotta look up Holts to see if I can get my hands on a couple of those limited releases he mentioned. If Pete is saying he wanted to distribute it nationally, that is pretty big ringing endorsement (granted, he is speaking to is own stuff, but he seems to tell it pretty straight).
One thing I am wondering about is his upcoming 2010 La Verite – wondering how things are going with that (Is that too soon to ask about? Information already available that I am totally missing? He is still planning on doing that, right?)

“La Vérité 2010 — Pete said that the most recent crop of La Vérité would likely be pushed back until December (2012), citing concerns over the wrapper. In addition, Pete mentioned that there is a limited amount of Sancti Spiritus tobacco, which might limit the amount of cigars he is able to produce.”
