The Story of The Little Robusto Project

The Story of The Little Robusto Project

For those of you who come here often, you already know or at least have an idea of what The Little Robusto Project is. “Little Robusto” was the affectionate nickname I gave my son JJ. Sadly, JJ passed away on November 2, 2007 from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) while at daycare when he was just 3.5 months old. When JJ was born, the first cigar I smoked to celebrate his birth was the Don Pepin Garcia Series JJ

Three Things I Know to Be True (Cigars Edition)

This is a bit different post than I normally do. For awhile now I’ve been a fan of TED | Talks. TED stands for Technology Entertainment and Design. Since being the father of a baby girl (she’s actually a toddler these days but she’ll always be my baby) a TED | Talk earlier this year caught my wife’s attention and thus mine was one by Sarah Kay. Sarah Kay is a spoken word poet and her TedTalk …

Smoke A JJ for JJ Day Tribute

Smoke A JJ for JJ Day Tribute

The generosity of the cigar community never ceases to amaze me. I’d like to thank our long time friend JerseyJay who is graciously holding a tribute and contest on his blog, You can read more about Jay’s contest to raise awareness for this event and for SIDS in general. I appreciate everyone who helps me keep the memory of my Little Robusto alive. Thanks Jay.

4th Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day

4th Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day

Wow! Its hard to believe my Little Robusto would have been 4 years old this year. Even after 4 years I remember his day and all the smiles and belly laughs that came in his short life. I often wonder what he would be like today. Would his personality be more like mine or his mama’s. I wonder if he would still look like me. I wonder what his voice would sound like. Four years and you can’t help but …

Support Team JJ

A bit late notice but the family and I are participating in a SIDS Charity Walk tomorrow (Saturday, May 7). This is the 13th Annual Walk for SIDS sponsored by the Center for Infant & Child Loss. The Center for Infant & Child Loss works with Maryland families and communities facing the sudden unexpected death of their infant or child as they learn to live with their loss. The Center is committed to increasing the understanding of sudden infant and …

How I Spent My Time in the DR

How I Spent My Time in the DR

Many of you know that I traveled with Brian Hewitt and many other bloggers to visit the La Aurora Factory in the Dominican Republic. Great trip and I’m still going through the footage, sound bites and pictures that I captured. While the factory tour, cigar tastings and dinners were all phenomenal, the below video was by far the best day. Just hanging out on the beach with other bloggers having a great time and great amount of laughs. I want …

Mike’s 1 Year Ramblings

Figured I would throw my ramblings on video for you all to see and hear about my first year with Stogie Review.

Nothing groundbreaking here but this was a hell of a lot easier than doing a review LOL

A Thank You

A Thank You

This thank you is way overdue. Many of you know our good friend Barry from raised $500 for the 3rd Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day. Barry’s generosity inspired others like @CigarsThomas and the folks at Toasted Foot to donate an additional $250 each for The American SIDS Institute in JJ’s name bringing the donation to $1,000.

I knew Barry was planning on giving me the checks at IPCPR and during the 2010 Twitter Brother of The …

Third Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day

July 22nd is the 3rd Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day. It is in celebration of my Little Robusto, my son JJ, who as many of you know, passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) while at daycare when he was 3.5 months old. This July 22nd would’ve been his 3rd birthday. The DPG Series JJ was the first cigar I smoked after his birth and holds a truly special place in my heart.

The event is simple,
