Herfcast on Skype (Dog Watch Social Club)

Less than 24 hours to go! Some of you may remember Walt and I making our debut on the Dog Watch Social Club Cigar Podcast last month where we joined our good friends, Bob & Dale, and reviewed the Camacho El Legend-Ario.

In less than 24 hours, on Friday, August 18th from 9pm-11pm (Eastern US) we will be joining Bob & Dale again and this time, we are reviewing the Avo 80th Anniversario.

This time is even more special! …

Experienced some site problems

Well, it seems that we had a major issue with the site last night. From the looks of it we lost the main database which contained all of the information needed for running blog. Jerry spent alot of time talking with tech support this morning and after a few hours (which seemed like days) the site was back up and running again.

The down side of this whole issue was that the site host only had a backup from 2 …

Coolidor up and running.

I’ve recently posted in regards to the samplers I ordered over the weekend. My cigars arrived last night and I needed a place to put them. I had 45 sticks delivered and I was tight on space. After some reading I decided to make a coolidor. I’m happy to say its working great and I have a ton of space for future cigars.

What I did was take an old coleman cooler (11″ W x 11″ L x 18″ D) …

Off to the Philippines

Well I’m off for the next two weeks.  Going home to the Philippines.  I really hope to check out the cigar scene and pick up some locally grown cigars to bring back and smoke.  The history of the Philippines is so rich in Spanish lore.  Ferdinand Magellan brought tobacco seeds from Cuba when he “discovered” the Philippines.  The local people also killed Magellan but lets hope its not because he brought bad seeds to them.

While I’m gone, my good …

Currently Smoking: Sancho Panza Double Maduro / Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte

This came to me as a request from a new reader. Asked me if I would review and compare the Sancho Panza Double Maduro and the Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte. I just so happenend to have both resting in my humidor for about 3 months on the Extra Fuerte and 9 months on the Double Maduro.

Review and comparison are in the works……

Site News: Comments

I’m working on configuring the blog so that comments are automatically posted instead of emailing me for approval before they are posted. Its just not very clear on what I have to do to enable comments without approval. If anyone is familiar with WordPress and knows where I’m supposed to set this, let me know. Thanks.…

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 - 1
