VIP Opening Reception of Davidoff of Geneva Atlanta

VIP Opening Reception of Davidoff of Geneva Atlanta

A couple of weeks ago I attended the VIP Opening Reception of Davidoff of Geneva Atlanta. The new flagship store had actually opened a few months prior (August 24th), but time has flown by this year, and I wasn’t able to check the place out until the reception.  That’s probably for the best, it gave the establishment the opportunity to smooth out any kinks involved with opening up a high-end retail store and offer the best possible first impression.

Patrick Martin of Patoro Cigars discussing his line of cigars

Recently, Patrick Martin of Patoro Cigars visited The Cigar Shop in Biloxi, MS for a Meet and Greet with our customers.  I recorded him talking about his start in the business and how he developed his cigars.  Enjoy.

Fat-Ash.com also did a write and video of the event at The Cigar Shop in Biloxi, MS as well. Check it out here.…

InterTabac 2015 and Royal Agio Trip Recap

InterTabac 2015 and Royal Agio Trip Recap

Last Thursday Logan and Seth from Cigar Federation invited Ben and I to join them in a special recap show on Google Hangout. In it we discuss the Royal Agio trip to Europe, covering a tour of La Trappe Trappist brewery, Royal Agio and InterTabac 2015. Light one up, open a chilled drink (I’d recommend something Belgian) and click play.

Royal Agio Factory Tour

Royal Agio Factory Tour

As indicated in last week’s video exploration of InterTabac 2015, Ben and I spent some time Dortmund, Germany. But that was actually the second leg of the journey. The first leg we spent in Belgium, and the highlight of that portion of the trip was our tour of the Royal Agio factory in Westerlo.

You’ve probably seen a lot of video and photography depicting the process of creating a boutique, hand-made cigar. Boutique hand-made cigars is really what we’re …

Exploring InterTabac 2015

Exploring InterTabac 2015

Thanks to the generousity of Royal Agio Cigars and Drew Estate, Ben Lee and I had the opportunity to attend InterTabac 2015 last week. InterTabac posed an interesting challenge for us in terms of coverage for Stogie Review. It’s bigger than IPCPR spread out over five convention center halls. (Yes, five.) It has a greater presence of hookah, pipes, alcohol and cigarettes than the trade show to which we are accustomed. Then there is the matter of familiar faces- there …

IPCPR 2015: Complete Digest

IPCPR 2015: Complete Digest

With the IPCPR 2015 trade show safely behind us, all our videos posted and our various floor-walking aches and pains beginning to fade, it’s time to take a look at our coverage as a whole. I feel good about it. We hustled the good hustle, and only mispronounced a few names. (OK, almost every name. I was really bad this year for some reason.) We did miss a few booths (apologies, no slight intended), but what we did get is …

IPCPR 2015: Padilla

IPCPR 2015: Padilla

No trade show is complete without a visit to our friend Ernesto Padilla, and I finished talking to him mere moments before the lights dimmed over IPCPR 2015. After discussing my little (and admittedly silly looking) video recording device, we move onto other topics, such as changes in distribution, the challenges of creating a great $6 to $7 cigar without skimping on tobacco quality or construction, the Padilla Criollo-98, Padilla Corojo-99, Padilla San Andres and Padilla La Pilar. With all …

IPCPR 2015: J. Fuego

IPCPR 2015: J. Fuego

And now for the IPCPR 2015 interview everyone knew was coming. I’ve been a big fan of J. Fuego cigars for years, so it was just a matter of time before I stopped in to talk to Jesus Fuego. This year his booth was right on main corridor running down the middle of the trade show floor, which I affectionately named “The Trade Show Mile”. The Trader vic’s vibe was strong in J. Fuego booth, I wanted to order a …

IPCPR 2015: E.P. Carrillo

IPCPR 2015: E.P. Carrillo

I caught up with industry legend and long time friend of Stogie Review Ernesto Perez-Carrillo on the last day of IPCPR 2015. Time was short so we kept the video quick. In it, he shows us the Seleccion Oscuro, Edicion Limitada 2015 and Ernesto’s Humidor No. 1 which features three of his favorite blends (Broadleaf, Inaugural Connecticut and Colorado Sumatra).…

IPCPR 2015: CLE

IPCPR 2015: CLE

We finished off our tour of the CLE booth at IPCPR 2015 by talking to Gaby Eiroa about Eiroa, CLE and Patoro products. In this video she shows a teaser for the 20th Anniversary cigar named “First 20 Years” which is currently slated for March, the new CLE Signature and CLE Plus 2015. We also had a look at the cigars blended by Christian’s father- the Aladino, Tatascan and Rancho Luna bundle cigar. At the end we take a look …
