Sosa Underground (First Impressions)

Sosa Underground (First Impressions)

Several years ago I used to frequent JM Cigars in Exton, Pennsylvania. It was a long drive (approximately 45 minutes) but this particular shop wasn’t far from a friends house and they had the largest walk-in humidor in the area. I used to love dropping in on a Friday afternoon and pacing up and down the humidor, searching out new product.

One of the cigars routinely stocked was the Sosa line. On a whim, I picked one up and enjoyed …

Oja Oscuro

Oja Oscuro

Rummaging through my coolidor recently, I came across a couple cigars I received in a trade from @YoungBuckBOTL. These in particular just so happened to catch my eye because I vaguely remember hearing about the brand but had never seen them in a shop: Oja Cigars. I don’t normally gravitate towards torpedos, as I find it more difficult to make an optimal and I sometimes get the feeling that the shape focuses the smoke somewhat like a laser. …

CI Legends – White Label

CI Legends – White Label

Quick writeup this week as I almost forgot to post this.

I was very surprised by this CI Legends White Label by Camacho as it was a lot better than I honestly thought it would be.

Medium to full body with nice flavors of nuts, wood and spice.

I did have a bit of ammonia in one I smoked but none of the others.

Enjoy the review and give them a shot.

16 Minutes with Terence Reilly (SAG Imports)

16 Minutes with Terence Reilly (SAG Imports)

A rose by any other name is still a rose…whether you refer to them as SAG Imports, MATASA, Quesada or Casa Magna its hard to ignore their cigars. The Casa Magnus Domus Magnus was my 2011 Cigar of The Year and they make a yearly appearance in that life style magazine we all hate to love or is that love to hate? Ever since I smoked the Domus, I’ve been sampling all things made by MATASA. It is …

Ashton ESG – 23 Year Salute

Ashton ESG – 23 Year Salute

While we have an assortment of reviews of the Ashton VSG it is surprising that we haven’t reviewed anything in the Ashton ESG Series. I would’ve thought our resident baller, Brian Hewitt, with all his Zino, Davidoff and Ashton dinners would’ve reviewed one of the four releases by now. Maybe it is the $20+ price tag of the ESG? I won’t rehash all the details you probably already know about the Ashton Estate Sun Grown like how the ESG …

Emilio AF Suave pre-release (first impressions)

Emilio AF Suave pre-release (first impressions)

I’ve been smoking a lot of Connecticut-wrapped cigars lately, which is rather unusual for me. I typically pass-up these milder smokes for something with a bit more punch. However, I’ve found myself with time to smoker earlier in the day than usual, so I’ve reached for a few of these creamier, milder cigars so as not to ruin my palate for stronger smokes later that same day.

One such cigar happened to be a pre-release sample of the new Emilio

Casa Magna Sanchos

Casa Magna Sanchos

Hello my fellow cigar smokers and welcome to my take on the Casa Magna Sanchos.

Been a little hectic around here with colds. flu, allergies, and assorted aches and pains but hopefully I am back and ready to go.

This is just a short review of the Casa Magna Sanchos and I will let the video do most of the talking for me. I will say, try them if you can find them and if anyone thinks these are …

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro

Limited to 1,000 boxes and only available at select retailers the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro has been a cigar that has eluded our Cigar Review Index for six years. Honestly when the e-mail came in asking for us to review this cigar I honestly thought we had but after scouring the site, it dawned on me that we’ve overlooked it. The Short Story Maduro features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with the binder and filler from the Dominican Republic …

Man O’War Phalanx (Side Projects)

Man O’War Phalanx (Side Projects)

Surprises are nice. For those of you who are fans of the Man O’War series like I am knew we had a maduro version of the Puro Authentico to look forward to this year. A couple weeks ago what should show up on CI, Cigar.com and their associated catalogs? The Man O’War Side Projects series. Currently the Side Project series features three cigars. The 52C (a Chisel format), the Little Devil (similar size of the Puro Authentico) and finally the …

13th Floor Foundation (first impressions)

13th Floor Foundation (first impressions)

Short on time again this week, so here’s another first impressions video for you all to enjoy. And yes, I took my life into my hands again and recorded the video while fighting through traffic on my way to work. This time around, I lit up a 13th Floor Foundation series toro which I received through a cigar trade — with whom, I can’t remember!

13th Floor started making cigars only a few years ago. After some initial success, the …

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
