Nomad Cigars – Fugitive (Joint Review)

Nomad Cigars – Fugitive (Joint Review)

Over the last couple of months, Mike and I have been talking with Fred “Godfadr” Rewey, CEO of Nomad Cigar Company, on Twitter. Fred was kind enough to offer us some samples to try and Mike and I discussed doing a joint review with those samples.

Like the well oiled machine that we are, Mike and I never discussed which sample we would review together. Fortunately, out of sheer coincidence we both saved a large figurado, The Fugitive, …

Partagas 1845 Launch Event (plus giveaway)

Partagas 1845 Launch Event (plus giveaway)

This past Saturday, I made my way over to Leesburg Cigar & Pipe in Leesburg, Virginia for the Partagas 1845 launch event. The latest offering from General Cigar, the Partagas 1845 is a whole new blend featuring a Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a unique & proprietary Connecticut Habano binder, and a filler comprised of Dominican & Nicaraguan tobaccos. It’s designed to fill that medium-bodied spot in between the classic, Cameroon-wrapped Partagas and the fuller-bodied Partagas Black.

An Evening with Guillermo Leon – Part Two

An Evening with Guillermo Leon – Part Two

The second of two parts with Guillermo Leon of La Aurora Cigars. This follows the format of the other Q&A videos we have recorded. George Brightman of W.Curtis Draper (Bethesda) sits down with Guillermo Leon and discusses all things La Aurora from the history of when Guillermo was handed the “keys” to the factory, to what cigars he is producing today and most exciting what Guillermo and the La Aurora Family have planned for us to enjoy in the …

CI Legends – Green Label

CI Legends – Green Label

Here we go with the fourth cigar in the series, the CI Legends Green Label made by Puros Indios.

As I said all the other times, these are available in one size only, 5.7×54, and only available at Cigars International.

Starting off with this CI Legends Green Label the wrapper is a little rougher than the others and it has the silky feel of a Connecticut shade to it. I do notice the wrapper has a blemish or hole …

Morro Castle (first impressions)

Morro Castle (first impressions)

For today’s review, I fished a cigar out of my coolidor that I think I acquired from my Stogie Review Fan Forumssecret santa.” Morro Castle is one of the several cigars manufactured by AJ Fernandez exclusively for Cigars International. I had just finished doing my taxes, and decided to enjoy the nice weather outside as I daydreamed about how responsibly my tax dollars were being used (ha!).

As I lit up, I realized how sunny, windy, …

CI Legends – Red Label

CI Legends – Red Label

Welcome back for the next installment from the CI Legends series. Today boys and girls I will be reviewing the CI Legends Red Label.

Taking a whiff of the wrapper and foot and the only scent present is a natural tobacco. This is the same on the cold draw also.

Starting out this CI Legends Red Label and the first couple puffs provide a leather taste.

I will note this is the only one in the legends series that …

Quesada Q D’etat Molotov

Quesada Q D’etat Molotov

Ever since I fell in love with the Domus Magnus last year I’ve been on this journey tasting all things under the Quesada umbrella. One of the newer releases is the Q D’etat Series. The first of what is to be three releases is the Quesada Q D’etat Molotov. An interesting shaped Dominican puro perfecto where the ring gauge is listed in three sizes 38/58/44. If you watched our 16 Minutes with Terence Reilly interview you will know …

Nub Connecticut 358

Nub Connecticut 358

I think I just heard the collective sigh of every single Stogie Review reader around the globe. I know, we’ve covered Nub Cigars to death over the years and we are at the point now where it feels like beating a dead horse. With that said, there is a method to my madness. This isn’t just a review, but a serious inquiry as well.

You see, earlier this week I found myself in a position where I was tight on …

CI Legends – Blue Label

CI Legends – Blue Label

Welcome my friends to the next in the CI Legends series, this time the Blue Label made by Matasa.

Just like all the others this one is available only from Cigars International and only in one size, 5.75 x 54.

Sniffing the wrapper gives a sweet tobacco scent while the foot and cold draw just give a tobacco scent.

Starting off with this CI Legends Blue Label and there is a nice creamy wood flavor filling my palette.…

Stogie Photo Streams

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 - 1
  • Sosa Underground - 1
