By now you are probably sick to death of IPCPR 2010 coverage, and I wouldn’t blame you. This is the biggest time of the year for the cigar industry and every cigar-blogger under the sun reports their take on industry news and new releases.
Here at Stogie Review, we try to do things a little differently and give you the news straight from the horses mouth (so to speak). Like last year, Ernesto Perez Carrillo, of
IPCPR Cigars In Brief
As is the case every year after the IPCPR tradeshow, the questions come pouring in about the new cigars introduced. What was your favorite? What surprised you? What should I be on the look out for? What did you think about such-and-such cigar? The truth is that with all the hustle to get the Twitter Brother of the Leaf Cocktail Hour ready and film the video interviews, I really didn’t smoke as many cigars…
As you may have guessed, IPCPR is the considered by many to be the mecca of cigar events. Each year all kinds of new products are showcased. So many, in fact, that it is difficult to see everything in the time allotted for the show. One of the booths that I regret not visiting this year was General Cigar. We were kindly invited to sit in on a General product tour by Barry, of
During last years IPCPR convention, Brian, Jerry, and I were introduced to Matt Booth, of Room 101 Cigars, for the first time. After an interview and a few laughs, Matt wanted to introduce us to a friend of his, Andre Farkas of Viaje Cigars. At the time, none of us had heard of Viaje cigars.
Over the past year Viaje has picked up a lot of steam and is well known for their small batch releases. It was a pleasure…
During IPCPR, Jerry and I discovered that, with our press passes, we could walk past security and enter the trade show floor before the official opening. We took full advantage of this, scoping out the floor and making a plan of attack for the day. One of the first things to grab our attention was a nineteen-foot long cigar in the Gran Habano booth.
After taking various photos and video, we made plans to swing by later in the show…
Over the past couple of years, one of my favorite stops during the IPCPR trade shows has been a visit to the Prometheus booth. A wide variety of their products are items that I would consider out of my league, from a price prospective, but they are fun to look at. The God of Fire and Fuente Aged Selection products are always beautifully presented.
This year we had the opportunity to tour the Prometheus display with Keith Park. With so…
Towards the end of the first day of IPCPR, Brian, Jerry, and I wandered on over to the El Primer Mundo booth to talk with Sean Williams. As always, Sean was a pleasure to talk to and provided us with plenty of information. In this video he tells us about his latest release in the Liga Miami, made by Willy Herrera of El Titan de Bronze.
During our first day on the show floor, Brian, Jerry, and I had the opportunity to sit down with Jesus Feugo for a few minutes. As you would expect, we asked him what he was bringing out at the show this year. Jesus was kind enough to talk to us about two new releases, the Origin Originals (What I refer to as the Origen “Soft Pack”) and the 777 Zero.
Kansas City, Missouri – August 5th, 2010.
XIKAR Inc., makers of the highly rated Cigar Accessories and HC Series Cigars has signed a Licensing Agreement with Nicaraguan based Drew Estate, which became effective August, 2010. “This new joint venture speaks volumes about our mutual admiration given what Drew Estate has done in the marketplace with their brands. We feel that this association is an excellent opportunity for both companies,” according to Scott Almsberger, Vice President of XIKAR.

Over the past three years, Stogie Review has been fortunate enough to attend the annual IPCPR trade show. Each year there seems to be a trickle of news that makes its way around the industry while most companies remained tight-lipped. This year is no different, except that the trickle of news is much more potent. During a conversation with the Torano Family Cigar Company, in regards to our Second Annual Twitter Brothers of the Leaf Cocktail Hour, we learned that…
