IPCPR 2011 – Perdomo Cigars

IPCPR 2011 – Perdomo Cigars

And the winner for shortest interview at this year’s IPCPR goes to…I kid I kid. I actually thought it was shorter than it turned out to be (thats what she said). First time (I hope not the last) that we have been able to talk to Nick Perdomo. He was awesome enough to actually have his national sales manager, Chris Harper, take over on a sale that Nick was closing to come talk with us. We would’ve been happy to …

IPCPR 2011 – Room101 Cigars

We needed to rebound with Matt Booth after last year’s less than entertaining interview at IPCPR. Matt Booth gives us an introduction to new sizes in last year’s LTD series, along with his new Room101 Cigars LTD Namakubi Limited Edition release for this year. He also shows us his new Connecticut wrapped cigar that has been making some buzz. Seeing as he gets the wrapper from Davidoff, it has some high expectations. We even discuss the future of the original …

IPCPR 2011 – Ernesto Perez Carrillo

Its hard to think of someone in the cigar industry who is more generous with their time and is able to connect with you on a personal level than Ernesto Perez Carrillo. Ernesto is one of my favorite people to interview whether thats at IPCPR, Texas Cigar Festival or even a local event in Maryland. He has so much knowledge of the industry and such a supporter of what we do here at Stogie Review. Ernesto takes time away from …

IPCPR 2011 – El Primer Mundo

IPCPR 2011 – El Primer Mundo

Most of the time we get things right the first time. Unfortunately the first time we recorded this interview with Sean Williams it was the first time I used my new setup of the DSLR rig to do a proper interview and I botched the soundtrack. Luckily Sean was kind enough to look past our amateur mistake and give us another shot and learning what is new with his Primer Mundo line.

7 Minutes with Pete Johnson

7 Minutes with Pete Johnson

I’ll give credit where credit is due. Brian Hewitt rocked at IPCPR. I was only there for the first two days and while we got a lot accomplished in those two days it was up to Brian to hit up the folks we couldn’t do together. Most of you already know all about Pete’s new releases for Tatuaje so maybe this video won’t be anything new. Again, most of you have probably seen pictures on Facebook or at the Saints …

IPCPR 2011 – Toraño Family Cigars

We’ve received a lot of praise thus far for our coverage of IPCPR and I’m very happy that we can provide great content for all of our fans. We couldn’t do it alone and I want to take a moment to thank a couple people at Toraño Family Cigars for their help in making this interview come together. Bruce Lewis, Oliver Hyams (who I learned at the show is a recent inductee to the NCAA Pepperdine University Tennis Hall of …

Smoke A JJ for JJ Day Tribute

Smoke A JJ for JJ Day Tribute

The generosity of the cigar community never ceases to amaze me. I’d like to thank our long time friend JerseyJay who is graciously holding a tribute and contest on his blog, CigarPhoto.net. You can read more about Jay’s contest to raise awareness for this event and for SIDS in general. I appreciate everyone who helps me keep the memory of my Little Robusto alive. Thanks Jay.

IPCPR 2011 – Illusione

IPCPR 2011 – Illusione

It doesn’t get any better than Dion Giolito of Illusione. Whether its his core Illusione line or Epernay or “Cruz”ado he literally has a stellar cigar for everyone. In the video Dion goes into detail about his new offerings. New size of Epernay, Maduro versions of the Illusione line, special MK Ultra and my personal favorite, the gold wrapped “Cruz”ado. Dion also spreads the love around and gives major props to some things Drew Estate is involved with.

IPCPR 2011 – La Caridad del Cobre

Frank Herrera of La Caridad del Cobre is one of the most interesting, intellectual, fun loving supporters of new media. Its always a blast to hangout with Frank and talk cigars and get legal advice from him. La Caridad del Cobre is probably my dad’s favorite cigar and I’m thankful to Frank for the autographed culebra for my dad. We talk about whats new with La Caridad del Cobre like the new Javelin as well as catchup on developing legal …

IPCPR 2011 – Casa Gomez

We finally catchup with our boy Loren Gomez of Casa Gomez. We’ve reviewed Casa Gomez cigars before on the site and so it was a surprise to realize that we never actually interviewed them in any previous years of covering IPCPR. And yes, I really did smoke that 7×64 Casa Gomez cigar. It two hours and forty minutes which I probably smoked fast so probably three hours is the amount of time to set aside for it. The cigar itself …

Stogie Photo Streams

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Sosa Underground - 1
  • La Aurora Escogidos makes me think Escargot. Therefore, in my mind, this cigar contains ground up snails. #RandomThought
