Another Final Goodbye

Another Final Goodbye

I must have stopped and started this post a million times. The particulars don’t matter too much. I learned when we lost the Little Robusto that the “if’s” and “why’s” can drive you mad. My older brother died this past weekend. He was four years older than me which came in handy my high school years. He was there when I was a freshman (he a seasoned senior) giving me pointers on how to ask a girl to homecoming and …

Brick House Maduro by JC Newman Cigar Co.

Brick House Maduro by JC Newman Cigar Co.

The Brick House by JC Newman Cigar Co. is not a stranger here on Stogie Review. The Brick House has made several appearances in episodes of Week in Smoke. In fact, it is one of my Top 7 Everyday Cigars that I reach for when I can’t decide what I feel like smoking. It is a affordable, consistent, versatile, solid and safe cigar. We didn’t catchup with JC Newman Cigar Co. at IPCPR last year (2012) but they …

Week in Smoke – TGT Edition

Week in Smoke – TGT Edition

I realized that I might well work my way down the humidor at W.Curtis Draper (Bethesda). Last episode of Week in Smoke featured mostly Davidoff cigars which is the first thing you see when you walk into the humidor. Right next to it is AVO Cigars. Not much love is given in the blogosphere when it comes to AVO Cigars these days. The one exception is Avo’s yearly LE (limited edition) release honoring Avo Uvezian. Then you tend to see …

La Aurora Cien Años Edición Especial

La Aurora Cien Años Edición Especial

It has been awhile. Call it my winter hibernation but I’m back with another exciting video cigar review. The La Aurora Cien Años Edición Especial is the Maduro version of the legendary Cien Años blend. Limited to 7,000 cigars, the La Aurora Cien Años Edición Especial features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper (which seems a bit thin to me) and the usual Dominican binder and filler. Available in one size, a 5×50 robusto. I believe the MSRP on it is around …

Week in Smoke – TGT Edition

What a whirlwind of activity lately from Smoke Out Hunger, to my mom having a stroke (she’s recovering at home) to the Stogie Review App for iPhone and Android. I want to thank all of you for your much wanted feedback on the Stogie Review App. We are working with our developer so you can customize notifications so you can choose between getting notification for new posts only or new posts plus new comments. We are also aware that …

Recap: Smoke Out Hunger

Recap: Smoke Out Hunger

Our first Smoke Out Hunger was held this past weekend at W.Curtis Draper (DC & Bethesda) and Civil Cigar Lounge. With the help of Miami Cigar & Company we gave customers a free cigar when they brought in three or more non-perishable food items. Thanks to all who participated by bringing food items, checks and those who sent me $5 via PayPal to buy items on your behalf.

All together, we raised 262 pounds of non-perishable food items for …

Site News: Stogie Review App Now Available

Site News: Stogie Review App Now Available

You asked…we listened…and we hope we delivered. The Stogie Review App is now available for FREE in the Apple App Store (iPhone) and the Google Play Store (Android). We didn’t want to “reinvent the wheel” so to speak. We wanted something that worked like the optimized mobile version of the site and include push notification when a new post is published. We wanted to keep things simple. Simple works. The iPhone and Android apps are pretty similar in features …

Recap: DC Tweetup 2013

Recap: DC Tweetup 2013

As many of you know, the 2nd Annual DC Cigar Tweetup was this past weekend. Like I mentioned in an early post previewing the Serie D Maduro Lancero, this year the B&B Cigar Club chose Autism Speaks as the charity this year. Between selling two types of packages and a silent auction hosted at Civil Cigar Lounge, the 2nd Annual DC Cigar Tweetup raised $4,000 for Autism Speaks.

The event started off Friday afternoon at W.Curtis Draper (Bethesda)

Smoke Out Hunger 2013

Smoke Out Hunger 2013

It is all about giving back! I’m a firm believer that we are here to help each other. In that goal, this upcoming weekend (March 22-24, 2013), Stogie Review has partnered with our friends at W.Curtis Draper, Civil Cigar Lounge and Miami Cigar & Company to do our part to keep the food shelves stocked for those who are in need. Our concept is simple, bring in three (3) non-perishable food items and receive a free cigar courtesy of …

Sneak Peek – Ortega Serie D Maduro Lancero

Sneak Peek – Ortega Serie D Maduro Lancero

First I want to give it up to my brothers running the show at DC Cigar Tweetup. I’m a big supporter of giving back to the community. It is my belief that our primary purpose in this world is to help each other. And if we can’t help, at least not hurt. Next week is the 2nd Annual DC Cigar Tweetup. Last year, the guys at DC Cigar Tweetup were amazing enough to choose First Candle as …
