An Afternoon with Litto Gomez (Part Two of Two)

An Afternoon with Litto Gomez (Part Two of Two)

So I lied in Part One…I thought this was going to be a three part series but it turns out to be only two. Part Two is jammed pack with Litto telling great stories including how he tweets from his horse while on his farm in the Dominican, the impact of social media, family member roles, mentors in the industry. and the difficulties with getting his cigars in other countries. Also included in this part is what most of …

An Afternoon with Litto Gomez (Part One of Two)

In our ongoing series of Q&A videos, George Brightman of W.Curtis Draper sits down with Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana. This is the first of three two parts where George and Litto talk about HR 1639/S.1461 and other legislative issues facing the premium cigar industry. Litto spends time talking about his humble beginning with Los Libertadores which eventually grew into La Flor Dominicana. They discuss the name change of La Flor Dominicana Premium to La Flor Dominicana Light as …

CAO Last Stick Standing “A”

CAO Last Stick Standing “A”

This is the second of three videos for the CAO Last Stick Standing contest. Basically there are three cigars, the one with the most votes, wins and becomes a future release sometime in 2013. Walt, Brian, Charlie and I all received a container of the three contenders and we wondered what the best way to present all of our opinions. We thought about centering a YQMA style video where we all smoke the cigar at the same time but in …

Top 5 Cigars Under $5 – TGT Edition

Top 5 Cigars Under $5 – TGT Edition

To complete my recent obsession with lists, below you will find my Top 5 Cigars Under $5. This joins my previous lists of Top 5 Special Occassion Cigars and Top 7 Everyday Cigars. As always your mileage will vary with pricing but I got my pricing from a couple local sources in the DC/MD/VA area. The requirements were simple. Under $5 (before taxes), widely available, something I’ve smoked, made an appearance on the site (review or Week in …

Partagas 1845

Partagas 1845

The newest release from the stables of General Cigars is the Partagas 1845. I have a soft spot for Partagas. Any of you who have been with us since the beginning (can’t believe you have stuck around for over six years) probably found Stogie Review because of my review of the Partagas Black on YouTube which was one of the first video reviews we did here. So it is nice to get excited about a new release under the …

Top 7 Everyday Cigars – TGT Edition

Top 7 Everyday Cigars – TGT Edition

It didn’t take long after my Top 5 Special Occasion Cigars post to start getting requests about what are some of my top choices for a everyday cigar. I was a bit conflicted on what price point to focus on for an everyday cigar. What I may feel comfortable paying for a cigar can vary from what others may feel comfortable with. Finally I decided to focus on cigars in the $5 to $8 range and are widely available. Your …

An Evening with Guillermo Leon – Part Two

An Evening with Guillermo Leon – Part Two

The second of two parts with Guillermo Leon of La Aurora Cigars. This follows the format of the other Q&A videos we have recorded. George Brightman of W.Curtis Draper (Bethesda) sits down with Guillermo Leon and discusses all things La Aurora from the history of when Guillermo was handed the “keys” to the factory, to what cigars he is producing today and most exciting what Guillermo and the La Aurora Family have planned for us to enjoy in the …

W.Curtis Draper 125th by La Aurora Event Pictorial

A couple shots I took at the W.Curtis Draper 125th La Aurora Event featuring a La Aurora 100 Años that were rolled with the original release and have been aging at La Aurora for eight years.

I’m working on the hour long video of George Brightman talking with Guillermo Leon on all things La Aurora.

“The second of four releases to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of W.Curtis Draper features the La Auroa 100 Años. What celebration would be complete without …

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Sosa Underground - 1
  • La Aurora Escogidos makes me think Escargot. Therefore, in my mind, this cigar contains ground up snails. #RandomThought
