IPCPR 2018: Crowned Heads

IPCPR 2018: Crowned Heads

In the Crowned Heads booth we talk to the robustly-mustachioed Jon Huber about how the trade show had been for them and the new, limited production Crowned Heads Court Reserve XVIII, a blend featuring a Mexican San Andres wrapper, produced in Tabacalera La Alianza by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. We also talk about the 6 x 60 Luminosa Gigantes, aka the “When Hell Freezes Over Cigar” and Four Kicks Maduro Lancero. …

IPCPR 2018: Cornelius & Anthony

IPCPR 2018: Cornelius & Anthony

In this quick interview, Steven Bailey shows us the latest additions to the Cornelius & Anthony portfolio, a bolder, US grown tobacco-heavy cigar named The Mistress and a milder, more subtle blend named The Gent. Both cigars are made at the La Zona factory, and if they’re not already on shelf at your local shop, they should be there soon. …

IPCPR 2018: PDR

IPCPR 2018: PDR

PDR was really shaking things up at IPCPR, and Richie Otero was our guide this year through the updated and the new. The first thing we discuss is rebranding of products, like the 1878 and Gran Reserva, a new logo, and price decrease for some lines. With the updated packaging, it will be easier to differentiate the brick and mortar cigars from those found in catalogs. This year they are adding the 1878 Roast Cafe to the line, which is …

IPCPR 2018: Viaje

IPCPR 2018: Viaje

We caught up with Andre Farkas in the Viaje booth late in the trade show, and he was very much in party mode. But even with drink in hand, Andre was happy to talk about the Viaje Exclusivo Collector’s Edition Humidors (which are shipping) and Private Keep. Private Keep is a vehicle for Viaje to send out new blends without going through the process of creating a whole new line of cigars. And Andre tells us he has a lot …

IPCPR 2018: Altadis

IPCPR 2018: Altadis

This year Travis Pappenheim took us on a whirlwind tour of the new product in the Altadis booth at IPCPR 2018. And we cover a lot of ground. We get started with the new Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua, which is a step up in body from the original 1875 and features Nicaraguan Habano leaf. Next we look at the Aging Room Pura Cepa, a Nicaraguan puro with blend designed to give off the same aroma as the cigars Rafael …

IPCPR 2018: S.T. Dupont

IPCPR 2018: S.T. Dupont

You can’t pass up an opportunity to take a look at all the new S.T. Dupont product when you visit the Davidoff booth at IPCPR. This year Megha Malagatti is our guide to the swanky new accessories, including the high-end products from their Disney partnership, including the very first luxury levitating pen, which is designed to look like a lightsaber. We also take a look at the new Le Grand S.T. Dupont lighter that’s capable of alternating between a torch …

IPCPR 2018: Arturo Fuente

IPCPR 2018: Arturo Fuente

In the always flashy and enticing Arturo Fuente booth, Liana Fuente and the perpetually dapper Manny Iriarte show us the new Carlos Fuente Commemorative Humidor, that features a clever “secret stash” compartment that opens from the back, decorated with Carlos Fuente’s fingerprint in gold. It’s a limited edition piece, only 858 were produced. We also take a look at the Don Carlos The Man cigar, the Rosado Sun Grown Magnum R Super 60, and the 40 ring gauge Fuente Fuente …

IPCPR 2018: Foundation Cigars

IPCPR 2018: Foundation Cigars

As per usual, the Foundation booth was constantly full of people, and full of a mixture of art and cigars. We grabbed a few minutes of Nick Melillo’s time to talk about the very limited Wise Man Maduro Lancero and the Tabernacle Havana Seed CT which features Cuban Seed Havana #142 tobacco. That tobacco is high yield, very oily, resistant to disease, but also difficult to properly ferment. It’s a much different tobacco than your typical Connecticut Broadleaf.

We also …

IPCPR 2018: Curivari

IPCPR 2018: Curivari

This year at IPCPR Andreas Throuvalas shows us the latest Curivari releases. It isn’t a single cigar, instead it’s two different collections of their popular microblends. In the past, it has been difficult to track down all the different blends the company has released. These collections will allow fans an easy way to try them all. Keep an eye out them in the coming months. They will be a regular release, but the amounts shipped will be small at any …

IPCPR 2018: Micallef

IPCPR 2018: Micallef

We catch up on the latest Micallef cigar news with Steve Henrickson in this video. Steve tells us about the new cigar factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. And that’s good news for fans of their cigars. The increases in economies of scale mean that they’ve been able to reduce the price of the majority of their products. He also tells us customers have been asking for additional, fuller bodied cigars, and they’ve responded with the new Grande Bold lines. There are …
