Drew Estate Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro Short Corona Gorda

Drew Estate Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro Short Corona Gorda

One of the most anticipated releases at this years IPCPR 2018 was the Herrera Esteli Brazilian Maduro from Drew Estate. Following the acclaim the original Herrera Esteli, it was only natural that a maduro would be next. What is unnatural was the choice of wrapper. Willy Herrera chose to use Plantation grown Brazilian Mata Fina as the wrapper which is usually used as a binder or in the filler. This is what Willy had to say about his choice of …

We caught up with Kyle at the trade show and he discussed the La Relatos in our interview which you can view here. Right now, the La Relatos is only available in a petit lancero, call The First, but other …

Altadis USA released the third cigar under the Montecristo Epic series, the Montecristo Epic Craft Cured, in December 2017.  The Montecristo Epic cigar series is produced in Nicaragua by the Plasencia family and consist of the Epic, Epic Estoque and Craft Cured. The tobaccos used in the Montecristo Epic Craft Cured are quite unique in that they were fermented in small pilones instead of large ones because Altidis claims this gives the tobaccos a richer flavor.  The wrapper is …

Ben’s Week in Smoke – No. 18

Ben’s Week in Smoke – No. 18

It’s been a busy week getting ready for the holidays, but at least I was able to get in several cigars during this time.  I tried to smoke some new stuff or stuff that I haven’t had in quite awhile.  I was lucky that none of the cigars I smoked were duds and even some really good.  Without further ado, here is my weekly list.

Nestor Miranda Special Selection Lancero

This was an old throwback for me.  I smoked a …

Partagas Cameroon No. 1 Lonsdale

Partagas Cameroon No. 1 Lonsdale

This year General Cigars rebranded the Partagas line with new bands and boxes, including the original line featuring a cameroon wrapper.  I really like the new look and think it was overdue, honestly.  The new branding looks much more modern and away from the old Cuban style that we’ve all grown used to.  We have a video interview with Andres from Partagas about the new packing which you can see here.  The blends were to remain the same with the …

Arturo Fuente Opus X Forbidden X TAA Keeper of the Flame 2018

The Opus X Forbidden X TAA Keeper of the Flame was released this year in the 2018 Tobacconist’s Association of America (TAA) cigar releases for the TAA retailers.  The Opus X Forbidden X TAA was, by far, the most anticipated release of the year and probably one of the most anticipated release since the Tatuaje 2014/2017.  The Opus X Forbidden X TAA was made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the TAA.  They just start arriving at TAA retailers and …

Ben’s Week in Smoke – No. 17

It’s been quite awhile since I did a Week in Smoke; a year actually.  It’s about time that I did another one.  I’m going to try to do these once a week or at least every other week as I know everyone seems to like these posts from Brian and I.  For those that haven’t read one of our Week in Smokes before, its just a list of things we have smoked during the past week or two with our …

Crowned Heads Court Reserve XVIII Robusto

Crowned Heads Court Reserve XVIII Robusto

Crowned Heads cigar introduced the Crowned Heads Court Reserve XVIII at this years IPCPR in Las Vegas.  I hadn’t heard much about the cigar before we arrived at the show so I was excited when we met up with Jon Huber of Crowned Heads to get the scoop on this exciting new release, which you can watch here.  Crowned Heads wanted to create a cigar for everyone that supported Crowned Heads through the years.  These retailers and supporters, including …
