Top 10 Cigars – TGT Edition (2009)
December 20, 2009
Way back in 2007, Walt originally reviewed the Camacho Select. Fast forward to 2010 and the Camacho Select has been through a packaging and blending change. I originally scored two boxes of these Camacho Selects for my silence on not revealing who was behind the Black Band Project.
Last year when I first smoked the Camacho Select it was unbearably awful from the start. It was on the level of 5 Vegas Miami Knuckle as far…
Quick shout out to all the peeps who came out to Drapers on Friday. It was great seeing familiar faces as well as putting faces and real names to Twitter handles. Twitter peeps like @tatuajecigars @nicetightash @doc8466 @stogieguys @sboyajian @naugs56 @dabyrdman33 @btmiles @dcspeopleschamp @chris_suspect @edfernandez2 (Norfolk VA), all the Facebook people like Larry (NC), Benjamin and Jennifer. I know I’m forgetting some people…to @dcamacho who bailed at the…
I need to thank Adrian and Butthead’s Tobacco for thinking of me. Adrian gave me the heads up on the CAO Escaparate #7 months ago and was kind enough to make sure I got enough to do a review. We are no stranger to CAO’s Escaparate collection. We’ve reviewed many of them like the MX3 and Bratalia to name a couple. Also, thanks to the Stogie Review Fan Forums for voting. The CAO Escaparate #7 edged…
Thanks for everyone who voted for this week’s review on The Stogie Review Fan Forums. It was a tight race and the La Herencia Cubana was the dark horse and came out of no where to win it in the end. The La Herencia Cubana is another cigar from the stables of AJ Fernandez. Similar to the Man O’War series and the Disel Unholy Cocktail, it is only available from Cigars International and/or Cigar.com.
The La…
The Stogie Review Fan Forums voted and up next is the Man O’ War Special Edition Figurado. AJ Fernandez borrows a page from the work he did with Rocky Patel in developing the Rocky Patel Fusion by making a MoW hybrid. With Rocky, AJ combined the Vintage 1990 and Vintage 1992 to make the Rocky Patel Fusion. In this case, AJ takes the Man O’ War and Man O’ War Ruination to create the Man…
Along with the Tatuaje Verocru Tubos, the Tatuaje Black Tubos could’ve been the most anticipated cigars to be released in 2009? Maybe? One thing that is harder to argue about is that Pete Johnson has had one of the hottest hands in the cigar industry for at least the last year. The Tatuaje Black Tubos is the latest addition to the Black Label line following in the footsteps of the original Corona Gorda release, robusto sampler three pack…
The Tatuaje Boris has been out for awhile. I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve chosen now to review it? First, when the Boris was released everyone jumped on it. Blog after blog, forum after forum were flooded with reviews. By now, you all know what an attention whore I can be and I didn’t want my review to get lost in the shuffle. Another reason is that last year I learned a lesson with the Frank. What I learned…
Just like I preface the video I wanted to start out by saying that Jameson Cigars is a long time advertiser and all around great supporter of The Stogie Review. All the Declarations smoked for this video were all provided by Jameson Cigars.
This is my first experience with Jameson Cigars. Walt has previously reviewed the Red Label and Black Label. I first heard about the Declaration at the 2009 IPCPR show. When they were…
Back in August 2007 we opened the doors to the Stogie Review Fan Forums. Now, I’m not going to make any outlandish claims like a certain forum conglomerate does but over the past two and half years its grown into an impressive community both in quantity and quality. Its definitely exceeded any expectations we had and unlike that conglomerate, I’m proud that we were able to build our community from the ground up. To keep up with that growth, we’ve…
If you’ve been following me on Twitter the past few weeks you already know where this review is going. The My Father Le Bijou 1922 was released at the 2009 IPCPR in New Orleans. I’ll admit, the sample I got from the show wasn’t that impressive…maybe my palate was fried, maybe they were rushed, maybe the air conditioned environment wasn’t up to par, maybe…well, you get where am I going right? There are just too many factors involved…
