EP Carrillo Maduro (Short Ashes)

EP Carrillo Maduro (Short Ashes)

This week, to put it simply, has been an absolute mess. After dealing with our massive data loss and the stress of getting everything up and operational again, I wasn’t much in the mood for recording a review for today.

Because slacking off wasn’t an option (how could I possibly slack off when all of the others members of Stogie Review came through with content after dealing with the downtime?), I dug through my coolidor looking for something short and …

Your Question, My Answers (YQMA) Episode 2.04

Your Question, My Answers (YQMA) Episode 2.04

A few weeks ago, Jerry, Brian, Mike, and I sat down and recorded another episode of YQMA. Due to some time constraints it took us a little longer to get this episode put together than usual.

Like most of our recent episodes of YQMA, this one has a variety of humorous moments in addition to questions submitted from our readers.

The questions include:
  • Our thoughts on the CRA and the semi-recent news of their distribution of funds
  • How many cigars

Black Pedro by Felipe Gregorio (First Impressions)

Black Pedro by Felipe Gregorio (First Impressions)

Earlier this week I received a surprise package from Felipe Gregorio containing three cigars. The cigars in the package were Black Pedro vitolas (Robusto, Torpedo, and Churchill).

A quick Google search didn’t net much in terms of information but I did find a short Youtube video from Felipe Gregorio. In that video I learned that this cigar is made up of an Ecuadorian Sumatra Maduro Wrapper and Nicaraguan Maduro Binder and Fillers.

Leading up to smoking these samples …

Gurkha Cellar Reserve

A Note From Tom

Ed and I got together last weekend to review the Gurkha Cellar Reserve. It boasts 15 year aged tobacco, Criollo 1998 wrapper, Dominican Olor binder and a 15 year old Criollo, Nicaraguan filler. I know a lot of people slam Gurkha as simply an overpriced brand. I’ve been guilty of it myself. But Ed and I have reviewed a few Gurkha’s in the past and had good results. So naturally I was more than happy to …

Delaware Cigar Festival 2011

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Fifth Annual Delaware Cigar Festival. The is organized by Gary Griffith, brand owner of Emilo Cigars, and Premium Cigar Manager of the Delaware Cigars chain of stores (In excess of twenty stores in the state of Delaware).

Tickets went on sale a few months ago and were $125.00 each. With your ticket you gained access into the event, received a large goodie-bag of cigars, were provided with food …

Women of Cigar Expo 2011 (Cigarnival)

Unless you have been avoiding Stogie Review over the past two weeks, you are well aware that Mike and I attended the Famous Smoke Shop Cigar Expo 2011 (Cigarnval) event. Like any event that we attend with attractive women working, we do our best to bring you photos of the lovely ladies. This time around I handled video content and I sent Mike on a mission to capture photos of the women.

Below is a Flickr Slideshow of the women …

Tour of the New and Improved Famous Smoke Shop

Tour of the New and Improved Famous Smoke Shop

Can you believe there is still video from the Famous Smoke Shop Cigar Expo 2011 (Cigarnival)? For a small two day event with crowds of people, I’m very happy with what we walked away with, in terms of video. In earlier posts, and in replies to comments, I made mention of getting video footage of the new Famous Smoke Shop Store. This is the post where I feature that footage.

All I did was fire up the camera and walk …

Brad Mayo of Jameson Cigar Co at Cigar Expo 2011

During the Famous Cigar Expo 2011 (Cigarnival), Mike and I caught up with Brad Mayo from Jameson Cigar Co. We had to twist Brad’s arm a bit to get him to do a video but we managed to get our way. In the short video below, Brad talks about the Santos de Miami and makes mention of a sub brand that may make its way to the market soon.

Glynn Loope of CRA Speaks with Stogie Review at Cigar Expo 2011

During the Famous Smoke Shop Cigar Expo 2011 (Cigarnival), Mike and I had the pleasure of talking with Glynn Loope, Executove Director of the Cigar Rights of America, for a few minutes. Glynn was kind enough to record a quick interview with us before we parted ways.

The video below is about three minutes long. Glynn gives us a quick overview of the current political situation with the FDA and talks a little about the CRA Organization.

Stogie Photo Streams

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 - 1
  • Sosa Underground - 1
