Cain Event at Kensington Tobacconist

A couple of weeks ago I was over at Kensington Tobacconist talking to the owner, Kurt. He was telling me that he lined up an event with Sam Leccia, of Cain and Nub Cigars, for the day before the Cigarfest activities kicked off. With Sam being in town, he made plans to hang out at the shop and roll a few cigars.

I spent far more time hanging out, smoking cigars, and sipping on scotch than I did actually …

Women of Cigarfest 2010

Women of Cigarfest 2010

After last years Cigarfest, we put together a sideshow featuring all of the models. It was a rather popular post (sex sells, go figure), so we thought we would do it once again this year.

Mike and I took turns snapping pictures of the models. We did our best to get them all, but I’m sure there were a couple that got away. You’ll notice that a number of them went through a wardrobe change to keep …

Cigarfest 2010: Day 2 Summary

Cigarfest 2010: Day 2 Summary

Earlier this week mike and I gave you our take on the Day 1 Activities of Cigarfest 2010. Today we have our thoughts on the Day 2 Activities. This video covers the Cigarfest event itself as well as some random banter from throughout the weekend.

Unlike the first video where we were both pretty run down, we have a bit more energy and provided a more entertaining video. In addition, I also realized that the previous video was recorded with …

A Comparison between Canadian and American Cigar Shops – Part 2

A Comparison between Canadian and American Cigar Shops – Part 2

This article was written by Daniel Temos (Dalamscius) and is the second installment of a two-part series. If you have not yet read the first installment, I strongly suggest you give it a read before progressing to part two.

In part 1 of A Comparison Between Canadian and American Cigar Shops we discussed the impact taxes and duties on tobacco could have on your local B&M. We saw how much an environment can change due to taxes …

Cigarfest 2010: Day 1 Summary

As you may have known, Cigars International puts together an annual herf up in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Over the last couple of years I have been fortunate enough to attend and this year was no different. Mike and I were able to get press passes to check out the event and report back on it here at Stogie Review.

Cigarfest is technically a one-day event taking place on a Saturday but there are a few things going on …

Jon Huber at Cigarfest 2010

On Friday, Mike and I made our way out to Cigarfest 2010. Traffic was light and we made excellent time to the resort. While killing time until we were scheduled to met up with Jason C. (Long time viewer of Stogie Review), I spoke with Jon Huber about scheduling our interview with him. It just so happened that he just got in and had some spare time as well. A few minutes later we got together with Jon and …

La Flor Dominicana Air Bender (Guest Review)

The following is a message from Tom

Hello Stogie Review! As always, Ed and I offer you our monthly guest review for the month of April.

A month or two ago, Ed was given some samples of the Air Bender by La Flor Dominicana. He smoked one immediately and wasn’t impressed at all. Then I saw Stogie Review’s own Brian Hewett review this cigar, and he wasn’t impressed either. This left us with low expectation to say the least.…

A Comparison between Canadian and American Cigar Shops – Part 1

This article was written by Daniel Temos (Dalamscius) and is the first installment of a two-part series. Be sure to back next week when the final portion of this article is available.

It’s a Friday night, you head out to your local B&M (Bricks and Mortar) Cigar shop with plans to hang out with some of the folk there and enjoy a good cigar. You pick up a well-priced $6 or $7 Nicaraguan cigar from one of the …

Press Release: Davidoff to Introduce New “Puro d’Oro” Cigar

Press Release: Davidoff to Introduce New “Puro d’Oro” Cigar

Yesterday I received an email asking me about the new Davidoff Puro d’Oro. Unfortunately, I was only vaguely aware of it from seeing Tweets by Danielle Hawthorne and could not answer the email with anything useful. To try and remedy that problem, I contacted Danielle and asked if she would be so kind as to send me any press information she may have available.

Danielle was awesome and had press information to me in short order. I was able …

Stogie Photo Streams

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 - 1
  • Sosa Underground - 1
