IPCPR 2016: White Hat (HR)

As the show was winding down on the last day we dropped by the White Hat booth for a quick chat with Spencer Drake about what’s new with HR. Of course the first thing that is new since the last trade show is White Hat handling distribution of HR, which means that the original line is back on the market. The original line has two new sizes, a Corona (MSRP $11.95) and an A which comes in a coffin of two for $70 MSRP. He also tells us that HR is adding two new lines to the portfolio: The HR Blue, which will retail for $6.95 to $9.95 and the HR Claro (in a white box) which will retail for $8.95 to $11.95, plus applicable taxes.

Spencer describes the HR Blue as “an aggressive, in-your-face kind of strong cigar” which uses higher primings of much of the same tobacco as the original HR line. It also features a two year-aged Ecuadoran Habano Maduro wrapper leaf. As for the Claro, he says it’s a more elegant and nuanced medium-bodied cigar. Aside from the Ecuadoran Habano Claro wrapper and references to lower priming Nicaraguan internals, the rest of the blend is not being disclosed.
