La Palina Black Label Robusto

La Palina introduced the Black Label line at this years IPCPR in Las Vegas. This new cigar line was made to compliment the other already successful lines by La Palina by being more full bodied than the others. This cigar uses a unique wrapper that I haven’t run across before along with Dominican and Nicaraguan filler.

Wrapper: Brazilian Bahiano maduro
Binder: Dominican and Nicaraguan
Filler: Dominican and Nicaraguan
MSRP: $10.00

This cigar truly is stronger than the other lines, but not overly strong. I would say its on the lower end of full. The draw was a little loose, but still had a nice resistance. The flavors started out very earthy with loads to black pepper. This was later complemented by some black cherry, dark roast coffee and woody flavors with a hint of sweetness. Overall, I thought the cigar was very good, but I still prefer the La Palina Maduro over this version of the maduro. If you like more spice than sweetness in your maduros, this is just the ticket.

  1. I’m halfway through one now, and I haven’t had the same issues keeping mine lit, though it did take a couple of extra hits of the torch to get it going initially.

Flavor-wise mine seems about the same as yours, though I’m getting a tartness from mine as well. Kinda like a semi tart cherry. No shortage of pepper in this stick.

  2. Picked up my first fiver. Can’t wait to try. This is my first La Palina. Will report back soon.
