Hello strangers and welcome to this weeks review of the Psyko Seven from the Ventura Cigar Company. This cigar is available in four sizes, robusto (5.5 x 50), toro (6.25 x 48) – review cigar size, gordito (4.0 x 58) and gordo (6.0 x 60). Pricing ranges from $7.00 to $8.00.

Pre-Light

Checking out the Psyko Seven cigar and you have to notice the big honkin wrapper that looks like an RX label with all the information you would ever want to know on it about the cigar. After removing this big ole thing you are left with a lot smaller band that encompasses the cigar. I really like that rx wrapper band thingy-ma-jig.

Sniffing away and there is a tobacco scent on the wrapper and foot while the cold draw gives a little spice and wood along with the natural tobacco taste.

Used the awesome Xikar VX v-cutter and sparked this puppy up easily.

Cigar

Starting out with the Psyko Seven cigar by the Ventura Cigar Company and there is a great volume of smoke and nice open draw. Off to a good start! Very mild cigar at the beginning with a dominant bread taste with some spices mixed in. Just a little ways into the cigar and a citrus taste came to bear and woody took over the bread taste. Spice is still in there but it really doesn’t pop you in the mouth, it just lays there.

Now for the reason I did not break this up into multiple thirds or halves. This Psyko Seven really does not change much. I did not get any distinctive transitions like they mention but the citrus came back with a woody spice taste. It may have hit a medium towards the end but this is not an overpowering cigar at all.

Wrap-Up

Would I buy it again? Probably. I want to try it in the morning with coffee and see how it goes. For the price point it is a nice mild-medium cigar but do not expect a ton of flavor transitions to hit your palate. I really need to try other sizes to see if this is something I would want to keep around.

  1. Did you get your hair cut? Your membership in the Hippie Bum of the Month Club is hereby revoked! And yes, I’m a member as well.

Sounds like a good morning smoke, although there seems to be a bit of a disconnect with the name of this line. Kinda sounds like a Brady Bunch form of psychosis, which I guess is not too bad if you’re the one afflicted with it. I certainly wouldn’t mind trying it out.

  2. Hey your haircut looks good Mike think you’re reviews are always fun and informative just wish i could find some of these cigars in my smoke shop

    1. Thank you 🙂

That is the number one thing I hear from cigar smokers, the inability to find a cigar locally. It is a real balancing act for a company who doesn’t sell online to try and be in enough retailers nationwide/worldwide to get into the hands of all who want to try the cigars. I do not envy them for this. I always tell people, if you want to try something ask your local shop to see if they are able to order some. It never hurts to ask.
