At the end of each long day spent hustling all over the IPCPR show floor, while Jerry and Walt (aka “the Golden Girls”) retired to their hotel room to edit video, put their hair up in curlers, and search for the bottom of a handle of Maker’s Mark, your humble correspondent and the incomparable Mr. Brian Hewitt took it upon ourselves to cover the many after parties hosted by various cigar industry players. This arduous task involved countless VIP badges & wristbands, questionable cab fares, and perilous journeys in shady party shuttles. It also gave us a unique opportunity to engage in informal conversations with various cigar manufacturers and retailers in a relaxed setting. Although several of these accounts and discussions aren’t exactly fit for public consumption, hopefully the video below can offer some insight into the seedy underbelly of what happens after the lights on the trade show floor go dark and the movers & shakers of the cigar industry are let loose on the mean streets of Orlando.
