4th Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day

Wow! Its hard to believe my Little Robusto would have been 4 years old this year. Even after 4 years I remember his day and all the smiles and belly laughs that came in his short life. I often wonder what he would be like today. Would his personality be more like mine or his mama’s. I wonder if he would still look like me. I wonder what his voice would sound like. Four years and you can’t help but still wonder about so many things…

July 22nd is the 4th Annual Smoke a JJ for JJ Day. It is in celebration of my Little Robusto, my son JJ, who as many of you know, passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) while at daycare when he was 3.5 months old. This July 22nd would’ve been his 4th birthday. The Don Pepin Garcia (DPG) Series JJ was the first cigar I smoked after his birth and holds a truly special place in my heart.

The event is simple, whenever/wherever on July 22nd, spark up a DPG Series JJ and enjoy the time. If you don’t have a Series JJ, no worries. I’ll be thankful for any cigar smoked on July 22nd in JJ’s memory. I can never fully express my gratitude to all of you who participate. Whether this is your first year, fourth year or somewhere in between…I thank you.

  1. My thoughts to you and the family. Recently I had a problem with my then 9 months young son and I put him under the knife And it was the worst thing ever happened to me.
I can only wish you and your family recovery through love and faith…..

One cigar is the least I cad offer..

  2. Have them in the humidor just for this occasion…my stash of them is almost 3 years old by now.

  3. I’ve had my JJ’s stashed for quite some time now. Gonna spark one up on the 22nd as I’ve done for the past few years. Long ashes.

  4. I almost wish we’d still be in Vegas together so I could smoke it with you on this day, but you know I’m going to smoke one in his memory anyway. I have a whole box of JJ’s and I only seem to smoke them on July 22nd.

  5. This will be my first year, and I have JJ’s in hand (also sent one to my brother in Montana) so we can smoke together. God Bless.

  6. will smoke something in his honor, wont be a jj though as i cant get 1 in time but i will set something good aside.

  7. I will will break out my best cigar and smoke it that day in his memory and I will set it in my calendar with a yearly repeat. I can only imagine what you and your family have gone through.

  8. My JJs are in the humidor just for this. I will smoke in honor of him and your family that day and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  9. Got my 2 JJs a while back for the annual smoke, one nat, one mad and they will be my smokes for the day in honor of your little Robusto (I’m sure he’ll know we’re thinking of him). Will have you and your family in my thoughts and prayers again while smoking them as in the past years.

  10. I was just about to ask if there was another JJ for JJ run this year, as I just bought a few JJ maduro’s since they are new to the Dutch market. It’s gonna be a sublime though, not a robusto.

  11. I can’t believe it’s been four years already. 🙁 I will definitely be lighting up a JJ that day.

  12. Just found out about it last evening and I’ll be lighting up a JJ for JJ. Hey, maybe we should look at getting together in Vegas on 7/22/12 so that we can all smoke one together. I’d like to experience a JJ with his dad and showing the support that he has. God bless and take care of one another.

  13. I’m about half-way through my JJ Maduro here. It’s truly been a somber occasion – a chance to reflect and give thanks for what I have. My thoughts have also been with you, Jerry, and your family. Whether you realize it or not, I would bet you’re doing a lot of good with this yearly event – raising awareness, raising money for the cause, etc. So, thank you for allowing us to share this with you. Best wishes to you and yours…
