By now you are probably sick to death of IPCPR 2010 coverage, and I wouldn’t blame you. This is the biggest time of the year for the cigar industry and every cigar-blogger under the sun reports their take on industry news and new releases.
Here at Stogie Review, we try to do things a little differently and give you the news straight from the horses mouth (so to speak). Like last year, Ernesto Perez Carrillo, of EP Carrillo …
Last week I packed up my gear, hopped in the car, and took a trip down to Sir Stogies. As you may recall from last weeks post, I had a blind cigar tasting scheduled. I hung out with about a dozen guys, handed them an unbanded cigar, and turned on the video camera. The video below is what came to be from that event.
The cigar smoked was the Oliva Serie V Liga Especial Double Robusto. I …

Doing this a little differently this week to see how it goes.
I am reviewing the La Perla Habana Black Pearl COBRE in the toro size this week. This cigar is available in three sizes and three wrappers. I am reviewing the connecticut wrapper this week.
Starting out I am getting a bit of spice with a creamy smoke and …
I’m excited! I finally beat Brian Hewitt to reviewing a cigar that he liked. Suck it Hewitt! Anyway, by now most of you have heard about the new releases by Toraño Family Cigars. The Master by Carlos Toraño is a collaboration between Charlie Toraño and master roller Felipe Sosa. Available in four sizes with the robusto coming in at under $6 a cigar. Going into IPCPR, the Master by Carlos Toraño wasn’t even on my radar. For whatever reason …
IPCPR Cigars In Brief
As is the case every year after the IPCPR tradeshow, the questions come pouring in about the new cigars introduced. What was your favorite? What surprised you? What should I be on the look out for? What did you think about such-and-such cigar? The truth is that with all the hustle to get the Twitter Brother of the Leaf Cocktail Hour ready and film the video interviews, I really didn’t smoke as many cigars as I …
Still going thru all the video we got at IPCPR…this time around we sit down with David Blanco of Los Blancos Cigars.
…
Finishing up our coverage from IPCPR we ran into Clint Aaron from 262 Cigars who brought us up to speed on Smoking the Revolution.

In the past, I have hosted blind tastings at local cigar shops. I would gather a group of people and create a sort of focus group to discuss a particular cigar. As the name implies, the cigar would be unbanded and no information would be provided before lighting up.
It has been some time since I’ve done a blind tasting. Logistically they were a little difficult to pull off but everyone always had a good time. I got to talking …
First off I used the Kodak Zi8 camcorder and the audio gave the noise again. I am sending it back for repair so the next few reviews will probably be with the old camcorder.
I kept getting asked to do a humidor tour, so here it is, short and sweet. After watching this you will understand why I did not think people would be very excited about it.
Enjoy the tour.
Like past years, Jerry and I made a point to get over to the convention center when registration opened to pick up our press passes. As the day wears on, the line at the registration area gets horribly long. With our badges secured, and a little more than an hour of time to kill, Jerry and I decided to try something new. Unlike past years where we waited for the floor to open, we walked towards the entrance to the …
