Hoyo De Tradicion Toro

This past weekend I was kicking back and enjoying the atmosphere at a cigar-event-turned-herf when one of the guys turned to me and said, “you know what cigar I really enjoy? The Hoyo de Tradicion. When are you guys going to get around to reviewing it?” I was a little surprised at the question. As I pulled out crackberry to check, I asked him rhetorically if he was certain we hadn’t already done so. Sure enough, there wasn’t …

Petite Tatuaje

Not sure how many “small cigar” reviews we’ve done on The Stogie Review. While I’ve tried a few of the small cigars out there, I’m normally not a fan. My experience has always been less than noteworthy. They always seem to burn too hot and too harsh for my liking. When I bought a cab of the Petite Tatuaje I did have a little reservation as it came to about $3 per cigar. A cab of 50 is a lot …

El Rey de los Habanos

The worst part of vacation is the part where you realize that the week has gone by too fast and you’re on a flight back home. Orlando was great! Got to visit Magic Kingdom and Epcot for the first time and got to hangout with a few cigar peeps.

While I was in Orlando I did in fact make a few purchases. You can actually see some quick videos of what I smoked and purchased in Orlando by visiting my …

Alec Bradley Tempus (Short Ashes)

For the first time in Short Ashes history, I decided to review something that I have not reviewed in the past. Instead I have reviewed a cigar that I have smoked several of over the past few months and that Brian was fortunate enough to get his hands on early in the release. That cigar is the Alec Bradley Tempus.

Arganese Nicaraguan Presidente (Short Ashes)

With a forgotten appointment looming over my head, I needed to act fast and whip up a review for todays post. Not having the normal time frame available, I decided to go with a Short Ashes review today and hope to have a full length review up on Saturday.

This week a take a look back at the Arganese Nicaraguan Presidente that I smoked a little more than a year ago. This sample was the last of my initial batch …

Reposado by AJ Fernandez (Guest Review)

Cigar: Reposado by AJ Fernandez
Size: Salomon (7.1 x 58)
Wrapper: Habano
Filler: Nicaragua
Drink: None

Pre-light:
Nice looking wrapper on a very large unbanded cigar. Cut the end with a borrowed pair of Xikar scissors a little over 1/4 of an inch up the cigar. Even with the small little nipple lit at the lighting end of the cigar the draw is perfect. The aroma from the smoke is nothing special to me. The opening flavor contains a pretty …

  • It is always just a little sad to finish off a box of cigars. This box was good to me. Tried to stretch it out so I didn't burn through it too fast.
