[...] Like Brian Hewitt over at Stogie Review, I experienced some very good, even burns on my Black Dragons, and the cigars produced white, flaky ash. And like Brian, I found the first third — or in my case, half — of the stick to have sweet, creamy flavors with a smooth finish. I also tasted some lingering notes of earth and leather. The flavors intensified more in the second half. [...]

I can't stand up for the Gran Especial size, because I haven't had one, but my favorite cigar to date is the Black Dragon Robusto. And from the sound of your review, the robusto solves most of your problems: #1 quicker smoke as it is close to half the size, #2 all of the creamy goodness that you found in the first two thirds is enjoyed all the way to the roach clip nub, #3 all dozen or so of the robustos that I've smoked, not one of them has had a single burn issue, #4 the price is alot more wallet friendly.
I hate to sound like a husband defending his ugly wife, but to me she is the prettiest girl I have ever laid my eyes on.
Seriously think about picking up a couple robustos (if you can find them). You will not be disappointed.

I like this cigar but agree that the draw was a little too tight. Good smoke... I definitely will buy more.

Right you are Ace,
This is a "G" cigar. And I'm starting to come around to your philosophy, avoid cigars that begin with "G".

I love that yesterdays colossal DNS screw up effectively ruined my attempts for comment love. Maybe I should review the Don Lino Africa again to get some attention! LOL
