Well, damn if I didn't miss this review. Great stuff as always Walt and I am glad that you enjoyed this cigar. It really is one of the most consistently great cigars that I enjoy. The ~f9~ is very complex as you alluded to and I enjoy that build in flavor. If I can find a couple more around here, I will be sure to let you know ;) Cheers bud!

Walt,

Just watched a video showing Lieberman bunching. From what I see the roller still bunches the filler, but it gets put into a machine to roll the binder over. Im not too sure how that would affect the filler? It is definately one to consider. We need to find out what manufacturers use Lieberman Machines. lol.

Matt,
If the flavors of the Illusione cigars is changed in a Lancero like they are in a Serie V, there is no doubt in my mind that I will enjoy the cigar.

Just a thought that may not mean much, but the voids in the filler got me thinking. I wonder if the cigars that I have had these issues with (as well as the others you all mentioned) well bunched using a Lieberman Machine or if they were hand bunched?

Walt

Like Mount Chuck said, the mk is also a great smoke. My favourite is the 68. Its a small smoke but packed with so much flavour.

I also find the HL to have a crisper flavour. Similer to the way the 'V' lancero does. Im guessin its due to the size.

As for the voids, I had it happen to me on.... Hell I cant remember what cigar it was, lol, oh It think it was a Perdomo Habano Maduro. But the smoke just seemed to disappear, and the cigar got hot very quickly, but after battling through for a while. The thick clouds of smoke came back and the smoke got cooler.

Jon,
I'm not sure, but of the two vitolas I have had, I think I liked the cg:4 better.

Mount Chuck,
Another vitola added to my try list.

Lisa,
Its an odd occurrence that I don;t have happen often, but its quiet the coincidence that a few people are having the same problem with different brand cigars.

Were you able to turn the cigar over and see the void at the foot or was it deeper into the filler?

It's ironic that when you first mentioned this problem that I would experience the exact same thing with some Por Larranaga maduro coronas I got from cigarbid. I was sitting there enjoying the cigar when all of a sudden... wtf? No matter how hard I drew on the cigar, it only gave me a whisp of smoke. Luckily the cigars were inexpensive, but still. It left me disgusted.

Great review and a great cigar. The hl lancero, as mentioned, is great. But my favorite by far is the mk. A stronger blend comes in the corona size, and just blew me away in flavor. It was all I had one day, and smoked it on the way home from work. I wish I had saved it and smoked it when I could enjoy it to the fullest.
