Brian and Walt, great "ramblings" here. May i suggest also (for any drinkers), pairing a fine cigar with Kahlua! One of my favorites in recent times. I used to appreciate relaxing with some Scotch and a nice stogie, but lately both have become a bit harsh together. So I went the sweeter route with the coffee flavored liqour. And with Kahlua now offering several choices, you can't go wrong. Mixing with cream or any other ingredient is just as enjoyable too!

Thanks so much for opening my eyes. I will probably start my coffee/ cigar pairings in the full/ full vein, and feel excited to get started. I'm going to start at black dog and see where it takes me from there. Thanks Brian

[...] Over the past two months or so I have found myself increasingly interested in cigar and drink pairings. It all started after listening to an episode of Dog Watch Cigar Radio when Bob talked about this excellent small batch coffee known as Black Dog. I ordered up a couple of bags and began my journey of pairing coffee and cigars. [...]

I live in New Orleans and my two favorites coffee/chicory blends are Union and French Market. You can order them online at http://www.frenchmarketcoffee.com/. They're both quite strong but smooth and go well with a spicy maduro. I drink mine straight (lactose intolerant) so I hear a lot of comments about drinking used motor oil, liquid tar, etc. The locals who drink coffee/chicory are extremely loyal to their brand of coffee. I grew up with French Market at home, but had lots of CDM and Luzianne with the grandparents. You can get CDM, Luzianne, and a lot of other local products online at http://www.thecajunconnection.com/.

Another online option is Orleans Coffee Exchange (http://www.orleanscoffee.com/). They're a small roasting house that supplies coffee to most local coffee houses and recently started selling their coffees locally. I've tried several of their single origin coffees, but prefer Black Dog.
