Check out Brian's review of the Gran Habano Azteca for details on how to win Cigars and Swag.
Welcome to the new Stogie Voice (formerly known as The Stogie Sampler). Thanks to everyone who chimed in various ways with various name suggestions for this new audio only feature.
Walt reviewed the Bolivar (Dominican) back in June and since I had one of these sitting in my humidor for the last three months, I thought I’d give it a shot and see what my taste buds make of it.
My opinion of the Bolivar (Dominican) wasn’t too…
So a local story from here in MD…the video focuses on the additional $1 (making it a total of $2) tax per pack for cigerettes, the tax would also affect cigars too adding an additional 25% in taxes to cigars. The video points out that a tax increase will force people to quit smoking and save their life. But no one answers a tough question…who will make up the difference when people stop smoking or go outside the state for…
Switching it up a bit. One of the requests we received awhile back when I asked how we could make The Stogie Review better was to offer quick, concise, picture and audio only reviews. I guess some folks think I don’t have a TV friendly face…in our ever growing attempt to give you (our readers, viewers and now listeners) what you want I bring you The Stogie Sampler feature to The Stogie Review. Don’t worry, I’m not abandoning video reviews…
The winner of Week 3 of Stogie Bowl 2007 is Foosballers who won 13 games and needed the tie breaker to beat out Seahawks Stogie Fan this week. Foosballers please shoot me a message (or use the Contact Form) and get me your address so I can send out your 5-pack of the Carlos Torano Signature (Pefecto).
It was a terrible week for my picks. I honestly thought Detroit, Texas and my beloved Redskins would win. At least I did…
Man, what a trip! I’ll update this post with the topics we covered but after my notebook crashed and spent sometime replacing the hard drive, reinstalling Vista and my other applications and then restoring all my data, I’m just finally glad to have Episode 19 edited, encoded and uploaded. Episode 19 runs 1:15 and Walt and I have some pretty good laughs (see bottle cap in the last segment):
This week I’m taking a look at a hometown cigar. That’s right, Atlanta, GA has a cigar manufacturer! And that cigar maker is El Primer Mundo! But if you come to Atlanta looking for a large warehouse of slowly fermenting tobacco, you won’t find it. Neither will you find rows of skilled cigar rollers working in a local shop. That’s because El Primer Mundo’s cigars are made in a factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, and specially blended by the Nestor…
Our Week 2 winner is Matt’s Pick with 13/16 games correctly picked beating out Herfing Jersey who picked 12/16.
For winning Week 2 of Stogie Bowl 2007, Matt’s Pick will receive a 5 Pack of the Partagas #8 Maduro.
A quick look at the Top 20(ish) Standings thru Week 2:
What can I say, the cream always rises to the top…
I had to change the 5 pack for the winner of Week 3. Instead of a…
This weeks review is a bit of a re-visit in the form of the Oliva Serie V Ligero Especial. This time around I decided to check out the new Lancero size and see what kind of difference size made on this smoke. The Serie V Lancero weighs in at 7.00 inches long with a 38 ring gauge. It sports a Sun Grown Habano Wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers from the Jalapa Valley.
During me pre light…
