How Can We Make The Stogie Review Better?
With me getting ready to jump back into action and the day to day stuff of the Stogie Review, I wanted to take a moment and ask for your help:
How Can We Make The Stogie Review Better?
I’ve said time to time that The Stogie Review is more “your’s” than it is “our’s” and now is when I could use some feedback on the site. While I don’t want to lead the discussion I know some don’t like such …
CAO America Potomac
Well boys and girls, I have a treat for you this week. Not only did I get to smoke the new CAO America at RTDA/IPCPR, I managed to secure a few extras so I could give it a proper review. (By time I got to it at the show, I was barely able to taste anything! Half a dozen cigars a day will do that to you.) And what better place to review a brand new cigar than on …
Maria Guerrero Toro

Sorry for the late post.
Up for review is the Maria Guerrero Toro from Altadis. I have smoked a few of these in the past and have enjoyed them. This particular cigar measures 6 inches long with a 56 ring gauge. It has a beautiful cameroon wrapper. The wrapper and cap was flawless. The overall construction was excellent.
I used my guillotine cutter to cut this cigar and decided to try matches this week. A tip for using matches is …

Gurkha Class Regent Nepalese Warrior
Welcome to the second edition of Brian‘s video-challenged review on the Stogie Review. I know I promised to get on top of that video gear, but as you’ll quickly learn, I’m just a big liar. OK, I’m kidding, I was actually busy schmoozing at RTDA (I have proof!), and still have every intention of getting that going.
And on to the cigar. But before we get into the specifics, I’ll admit it, this was an impulse buy. …
Its Been Awhile
Wow! What an amazing past three weeks it has been! You go to sleep one night thinking you have a week before the new addition shows up and you wake up the next morning driving your wife to the hospital. I have to say that being a father is one of the most amazing feelings ever! Wife and baby JJ are both doing well. I’m back at work and I feel like I’m missing so much. Believe it or not, …
Genuine PreEmbargo Edicition Limitada

Today I smoked this cigar from JRCigar.com. They bill this cigar as being inspired by the cigar of the same name from Habanos SA, a cuban cigar company. I smoked the corona sized cigar. The cigars come 50 to a cedar chest for a price of about $96 per box. This brings the per cigar price to under $2 a stick. I have never smoked the one this is inspired by so I will be reviwing the cigar based on …
El Cobre
Up for review this week is a cigar that was briefly discussed in Episode 14 of Your Questions, My Answers. The cigar is the El Cobre which is a Private Label cigar made by the Oliva Cigar Family. The El Cobre is available in bundles of 25 for $99.95 and weighs in at, in my case, 6.50 inches long with a 52 ring gauge and is Torpedo shaped.
Upon my initial inspection I thought this cigar looked a little rough. …
Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Torpedo
Hello there! I guess a quick introduction is in order. This is Brian Hewitt of Brian’s Random (Cigar) Thoughts and I’m filling in for Jerry while he’s away tending to the new edition to his family, the wee lil torpedo! I also should give Walt and Jerry a quick thanks for maintaining such an essential blog for all cigar smokers, and for giving me a chance to add to it. (Is it weird to thank them for their blog on …
