Ashton Cabinet #3

This Ashton Cabinet #3 measures 6×46 and is one of the silkiest, smoothest, best looking cigars I have had the pleasure to smoke. I got this one in a trade over at Club Stogie, a popular pastime over there. I’m not kidding, this cigar was nothing less than beautiful, not a vein to be found anywhere.

Pre-light draw was rather tight as-expected given the perfecto shape. The foot toasted quickly and provided the only hint of spice I got during …

Havana Honey – Honey Del Sol

Today’s review is brought to you by whom else but my mother. Thanks mom for buying this stogie for me and the whole giving birth thing. My mother isn’t very different from other mothers out there. She doesn’t approve of her son smoking cigars just like she doesn’t approve of her son doing anything that can be potentially risky. So when my mom returned from a recent family reunion in Las Vegas I was surprised when she handed me a …

Carlos Torano – Virtuoso

A few weeks ago I got a very nice and unexpected package in the mail from a good friend of Stogie Review. Tom (cigarfan) from Keepers of the Flame took it upon himself to send me a care package. Among several very nice cigars was a Carlos Torano Virtuoso.

Over the past several months Jerry has been pushing me down the Carlos Torano cigar slope. So far I have not had a single Torano that I did not enjoy, so …

Rating Sheet

A couple of days ago, the topic of Cigar Journals and Rating Sheets were brought up at Club Stogie. Among the rating sheets that were shared, one was a combination of a flavor wheel and the Stogie Review rating sheet.

The rating sheet works with a macro that is run within MS Excel. By running the macro you can create rating sheets for single cigars and organize them individually within a single Excel file.

All of the credit for this …

Tampa Sweethearts NO. 4

This Tampa Sweethearts NO. 4 comes in at 5.5×43 in both Natural and Maduro wrappers. This one is a Maduro that I received as a gift from Catfishm2 over a Club Stogie, as well as a rather large sampler of other Tampa Sweethearts, a testament to the atmosphere overe there.

I received two of these from Catfishm2, the first one I pulled out of the humidor was hard as a rock. The only place on the cigar that there was …

Gran Habano V.L.

Recently I found myself in the City by the Bay. This was my first trip to San Francisco and I can see why the city’s other nickname is fog city. Before I kickoff this review of the Gran Habano V.L. I need to thank a few folks who made me feel right at home in San Francisco. I want to thank Dave at Grants Tobacconist on Market Street for treating me like I’ve been coming there for years and for …

Interview with Paul Shoberg

You may have noticed in past reviews we make mention of a web forum called Club Stogie. We make mention of this site due to the friendly atmosphere and open advice shared among the community. To be completely honest with you, I really feel as though Club Stogie is a home away from home in terms of Cigar websites. I am sure Jerry and Brian both feel the same way.

Because we mention the forum as much as we do, …

Perdomo Lot 23

This Perdomo Lot 23 Robusto was a gift from the guys over at Dogwatch Social Club and was enjoyed during a herfcast for episode #80. While the wrapper was very smooth and without any large veins, it had a slightly rugged appearance but felt very good between the fingers. Very nice double cap that cut perfectly and a pre-light draw giving a nice earthy tobacco taste. A large band on a cigar is a personal pet peeve of mine but …

Stogie Photo Streams

  • I'm convinced at this point, the 1878 line from @pdrcigars is the 'Best Bang for your Buck' in the PDR portfolio. Some of his more expensive cigars just arent as good as this budget stick.
  • Smoking my first Flores y Rodriguez. The Flores, Id imagine, refers to Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio.
  • IMO Enclosed Foot = "Sorry Sir, I couldn't be bothered to trip up that tobacco so I just wadded it up for you."
  • Box looks great, although it could have used more dry-time. Has a mild stain smell about it.
  • Got a @StudioTobac Sampler in the mail. Looks good, eager to smoke through them.
  • @LaAuroraCigars 107 Corona and @CAOCigars OSA cutter, together in harmony.
  • Have a bunch of things to wrap. Having a cigar to keep me company.
  • Nomad Cigars and Yuengling - 1
  • Have a busy morning ahead of me. It is such tough work but someone has to do it.
  • It is a little "Partagas Serie D No. 4" looking but I like the idea if small batch cigars from @pdrcigars
  • Nothing says Good Mornin' like an @EPCarrillo Elencos
  • Figures, 9 out of 10 were awesome and my last one has a lousy burn and produces virtually no smoke on the draw.
  • @jcruz @jonathandrew1 Same here and I guess you could call this Stogie Review Studios (North)
  • EP Carrillo New Wave Corona
  • Drew Estate Undercrown and Spyderco Native 4 - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 and Coffee - 1
  • Nub Connecticut 358 - 1
  • Sosa Underground - 1
